Another popular attire of women in Indian clothing is the Indian salwar-kameez.
The men in India can be found in more conventional western clothing like shirts and trousers.
However, men in Indian villages are still more comfortable in traditional attire like kurtas, lungis, dhotis and pyjamas.
Though ethnically Indians speak different languages, follow different religions, eat the most diverse varieties of food, there is still a richness in Indian arts and culture which is unparalleled anywhere else in the world. The beauty of the Indian people lies in the spirit of tolerance, give-and-take and a composition of cultures that can be compared to a garden of flowers of various colors and shades of which, while maintaining their own entity, lend harmony and beauty to the garden - India!
Topography, water, soil, climate, vegetation etc are the most important factors that influence habitation in a place.
The physiographic divisions of India are the great Himalayan ranges, the Northern plains, the Peninsular plateau and the coastal plains.
Indian rivers can be classified as Himalayan Rivers andPeninsular Rivers.
Different types of soils are distributed in India.
India can be divided into different regions based on the amount of rainfall.
India has 28 states and 7 Nation terrority
Indian culture treats guests as god and serves them and takes care of them as if they are a part and parcel of the family itself. Even though we don’t have anything to eat, the guests are never left hungry and are always looked after by the members of the family. Elders and the respect for elders is a major component in Indian culture. Elders are the driving force for any family and hence the love and respect for elders comes from within and is not artificial. An individual takes blessings from his elders by touching their feet. Elders drill and pass on the Indian culture within us as we grow.
“Respect one another” is another lesson that is taught from the books of Indian culture. All people are alike and respecting one another is ones duty. In foreign countries the relation between the boss and the employee is like a master and slave and is purely monetary whereas in Indian culture the relation between the boss and the employee is more like homely relations unlike foreign countriesHelpful nature is another striking feature in our Indian culture. Right from our early days of childhood we are taught to help one another in need of help and distress. If not monetary then at least in kind or non-monetary ways.
Indian culture tells us to multiply and distribute joy and happiness and share sadness and pain. It tells us that by all this we can develop co-operation and better living amongst ourselves and subsequently make this world a better place to live in.
Even though India is a country of various religions and caste our culture tells us just one thing 'phir bhi dil hai hidustani '.

India has very good potential. Being the 7th largest country, it has ample resources. India has great diversity in its physical features, climate, culture, language etc. Unity in Diversity is the tradition of the people of my country INDIA. India is the land of many intellectual persons like SWAMI VIVEKANAND, MAHAVIR SWAMI etc. I is also SUBASH CANDRA BOSE, SARDAR PATEL, BHAGAT SINGH and many other national heroes who fought for the country's independence in 1947.Ofcourse the great Indian Bapu, MAHATMA GANDHI brought India independence giving the world the principle of TRUTH AND NON-VIOLENCE. Free India's first Prime Minister JAWAHAR LAL NEHRU who gave the world principles of PANCHSHEEL for the country to maintain their foreign policy. India's tri colour flag has its own significance, saffron at top for courage, white in middle for peace, green at bottom for greenery, at the center the blue colour wheel with 24 spoke signifies equal opportunity to all citizens.
Today India is an underdeveloped country, but its rate of development is very fast. Recently it has been awarded as the third largest growing economy. In the field of science, India made tremendous progress in developing nuclear missiles, space rockets, more with the development of Silicon Valley in Bangalore it has become a I.T. hub. It is planning to send a mission to moon by 2007. India is a member of various international organizations like UN, WTO etc. India believed in the policy of world is family hence signing various treaties with various countries. India is well aware of the environmental aspects .Gandhiji told the people there is a lot on the earth to satisfy one's need but not ones greed. India has launched various project like project TIGER and opened various national parks and wildlife sanctuaries. The famous Asiatic lion are found in India only.
Wide reaching revolutions such as white for milk, green for crops, yellow for oilseed has been successfully implemented. Now a days India has been facing many challenges in the areas of population, pollution, corruption, illiteracy, unemployment, terrorism and not the least, natural calamities like earthquakes ,floods , draughts, tsunami etc. Of course taking population positively one can direct it to the greatest man power. Pollution can be tackled by creating awareness in the country about the environment. India ranks 83rd in corruption it can be tackled by giving up ones greed. Illiteracy is the root cause of the majority of problems, social backwardness, gender inequality, female foetocide etc. Many educational schemes have been developed by the government. Natural disaster is the greatest curse to mankind. Of course disaster management teams are prepared by the government. War the greatest enemy of the mankind and the passive war terrorism even worse than that. Indian states are facing such problems. India is negotiating its problems with economically strong countries and finding its way through.
Above all I BOW MY COUNTRY WHERE THE WORLD'S LARGEST DEMOCRACY SURVIVES, WHERE THE PEOPLE FEEL SECURE OF THIER LIVES AND PROPERTY. WHERE DIFFERENT RELIGION BUT HEART IS ONE.
India is one of the oldest civilizations in the world, spanning a period of more than 4000 years, and witnessing the fusion of several customs and traditions, which are reflective of the rich culture and heritage of the Country.
The history of the nation gives a glimpse into the magnanimity of its evolution - from a Country reeling under colonialism, to one of the leading economies in the global scenario within a span of fifty years. More than anything, the nationalistic fervour of the people is the contributing force behind the culmination of such a development. This transformation of the nation instills a sense of national pride in the heart of every Indian within the Country and abroad, and this section is a modest attempt at keeping its flame alive.
